Sharon's own personal corner of the Davidverse, where she can express her thoughts about family, care and feeding of an author, and life in general.
Last month's trip to the Southwest was a lot of fun. Not only did we get to go to the Tuscon Book Festival, which had over 300 authors, but we also got to go to Albuquerque for a week and visit our dear friend, Jane Lindskold and her wonderful husband, Jim.
Jane and David spent several days working on the specifics for the Honorverse young adult series that will be starting in October 2011 with the release of "A Beautiful Friendship." We are all excited about where this is going, but it has been a little bit of a challenge as well. Contrary to popular opinion, it turns out that YA's aren't just short adult books about young protagonists. There is a whole style that goes into this genre of writing that has been a new and exciting to figure out.
When we got back, David sat down and wrote an introduction to "No Man's Land," a collection of short stories written by women. These ladies wrote some great military sci-fi, and it's a great read.
This month David is leaving (on our anniversary!) to go to England. He's stopping in London for a signing and as the guest at the BSFA meeting, then going on to Birmingham for EasterCon. I have decided to stay home this time so I can be with the kids over Easter.
The girls are playing soccer this spring, and we are enjoying Saturday soccer games in the cool afternoons. I hope everyone is having a great April!
